The Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM)® was created by Lori Gill, Founder and Clinical Director Attachment and Trauma Treatment Centre for Healing (ATTCH).
Our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM)® is a trauma-specific model that layers in sensory processing, art, breath work, somatic therapies, embodied awareness, toning and movement, bilateral stimulation, resource installation, parts work integration, and amygdala reframing messages.
Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM)® This training is open to professionals who generally hold a graduate degree or higher in Social Work or Psychology that have completed our comprehensive clinical training program. Participants listed below have completed the full 5 day core training in our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) ®. This training program focuses on foundational trauma and attachment knowledge as well as the implementation and applied practice of our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) ®. Participants listed in this section have completed the training and practical application components and have met the training requirements of certification but have not yet completed certification. They are trained to implement the Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) ®.

ITATM Program Evaluation
Thank you to Victoria Dobson for completing a program evaluation of our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Model (ITATM)®. Thank you also to Dr. Paul Frewen, Western University Hospital for acting as our consultant / principal investigator. The results reviewed the progress of 50 adult clients. A variety of standardized measures were used to evaluate change. Overall the findings demonstrated clinically and statistically significant changes. This is not to say everyone is fully recovered at the completion of treatment as we are working with complex trauma and as such there are no easy solutions. However these are outcomes that are very realistic of a complex trauma population and demonstrate that there is benefit to the treatment being offered.
Average reductions in high risk areas are as follows:
These are areas that often impact daily life skills, the ability to remain regulated, maintain safe housing, utilization of high risk and crisis services etc. As such any reductions in these areas demonstrates a positive shift towards a more emotionally regulated state.
The least reduction was observed in relation to somatics. Given that when entering treatment most people are not embodied/aware of their emotions due to the trauma experiences they have had this makes good sense. As we begin to work through treatment people become more embodied and more aware of their emotional felt state, this means they are also more aware of uncomfortable sensations feelings emotions etc. however there is an increased ability to experience these feelings without destabilizing, flooding, dissociating etc. This is all part of the goals of treatment, feeling is healing and again it’s a great indicator that the work we are doing is effective. A video outlining the program evaluation results in full is included below.
Average reductions in high risk areas are as follows:
- Tension Reduction Behaviour 12.1 reduction
- Depression 9.61 reduction
- Suicidality 10.20 reduction
- Anger 9.98 reduction
- Dissociation 8.71 reduction

Course Descriptions:
Days 1 & 2: Day 1 Understanding the Foundations of Trauma and Attachment, Day 2 Phase-Based Clinical Applications to Promote Healing and Integration of Trauma and Attachment Dysregulation and Day 3 Trauma Processing Experiential (description below)
with Lori Gill, Founder and Lead Trauma Therapist, Attachment and Trauma Treatment Centre for Healing
The fields of attachment and trauma research and intervention are growing rapidly. It is apparent that this is an area all clinicians can benefit from training in as it crosses all sectors and populations in some manner. However, we know that it can be difficult to keep up with all of the readings and resources. As this is our area of specialization, let us share what we have learned through our literature and research reviews and what we have effectively put into practice with you in an engaging and practical manner. This comprehensive two-day training will provide insight into current trauma, attachment, and neuroscience research ensuring an understanding of critical information and best practice strategies for working with trauma. This training will also help you to enhance your clinical skills and learn how you can add trauma regulation and attachment healing strategies to your repertoire.
Day 2 will focus on putting it into practice. Through this Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) participants will learn how to make historical connections, engage in integrative trauma-specific treatment approaches, and promote resiliency and wellness. Participants will learn about phase-based treatment of complex trauma and review of best practice and evidence-based approaches will also be experienced.
Upon completion of training participants will have a strong understanding of:
Trauma-Informed Care
The Neuroscience of Trauma, Addictions, Mental Health and Violence
Sensory Regulation
Boundaries, Self-Compassion, and Healthy Relationships
Trauma Processing* Part 2
Part 2:
Day 1 Trauma Processing Experiential & Applied Practice Part 1
This workshop takes participants through the trauma processing practices introduced in the core training. This workshop takes participants through experiential of our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) from start to finish and includes various techniques (from brief assessment, grounding, trauma processing, somatic discharging and shifting affect for completion of session in an emotionally regulated manner). Participants will experience various experiential activities inclusive of a live demonstration and the opportunity to practice techniques learned (as both the counsellor and the client) in a partner format with guidance from the facilitator. This experiential days allows for discussion, questions, and reflections from participants at a deeper level as it is facilitated in a small group format.
Days 2 & 3 Trauma Processing Experiential & Applied Practice Parts 2 & 3
This workshop takes participants through the trauma processing practices introduced in the core training. This workshop takes participants through experiential of our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) from start to finish and includes various techniques (from brief assessment, grounding, trauma processing, somatic discharging and shifting affect for completion of session in an emotionally regulated manner). Participants will experience various experiential activities inclusive of a live demonstration and further opportunities to practice trauma processing (as both the counsellor and the client) in a partner format with guidance from the facilitator. This experiential days allow for discussion, questions and reflections from participants at a deeper level as it is facilitated in a small group format.
All days will be rich with research, practical examples, case studies, experiential activities, and opportunities for self-reflection.
Advance registration is required, limited spaces available to ensure individualized attention. Please contact [email protected] to obtain an intake package for application or complete the contact form below and an application package will be mailed to you.
